Discover one of the most stunning natural landscapes along the Austral Highway (Carretera Austral): the famous Marble Caves (Capillas de Mármol), Marble Cathedral, and Marble Chapel, located on the shores of General Carrera Lake.
Itinerary
The adventure starts early with pickup at your accommodation in Coyhaique, then we head out along the Austral Highway (Carretera Austral) toward Puerto Río Tranquilo.
Over the approximately 233 km drive, you’ll enjoy incredible Patagonian scenery, passing Portezuelo Ibáñez and Cuesta del Diablo, with views of the imposing Cerro Castillo.
Upon arriving in Puerto Río Tranquilo, on the shores of General Carrera Lake, we’ll take a boat ride of approximately 1 hour to see the famous Marble Caves (Capillas de Mármol), Marble Cathedral, and Marble Chapel—natural formations sculpted over thousands of years by the action of water.
We’ll then enjoy a homemade lunch before returning to Coyhaique, wrapping up a day filled with nature and the unique landscapes of Patagonia.

If the boat ride to the Marble Caves (Capillas de Mármol) is suspended due to weather conditions and there is availability, an alternative navigation from Puerto Sánchez will be offered at no additional cost.
